CMES PTA Hosts the 3rd Annual 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run

Adamstown, MD is the site of the 3rd annual Roaring Lion Run 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 8:00am. Rain or shine, all levels of runners and walkers are welcome to come out and compete for fabulous placement awards as well as be eligible for door prizes. There will be a One Mile Fun Run for the little ones at 9:00am.  Reservations can be placed for babysitting services for the children of registered 5K participants. 

Participants and spectators can enjoy music and refreshments donated from local food vendors while vying for silent auction items. All silent auction items are donated to help support the Carroll Manor E.S. PTA.  In 2010 the auction items included a Tastefully Simple gift basket, a golf package, a gymnastic club party package, gym memberships, and much more.

Last year, more than 200 runners and walkers enjoyed the 5K course approved by the Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club. This club will once again provide timing and finish line assistance. The course begins and ends on the campus of the Carroll Manor Elementary School and takes participants through the peaceful residential developments of Green Hill Manor and Adamstown Commons. REGISTRATION

The registration fee for The Roaring Lion Run 5K Run/Walk is $20 on or before October 10, 2011. The same day registration fee is $25. Although same day registration is available, we cannot guarantee T-shirts to all entrants the day of the race.  The fee for the One Mile Fun Run is $12.  Checks should be made payable to the Carroll Manor Elementary School PTA and mailed to Carroll Manor Elementary School, C/O Joanna Sieger- 5K Chair, 5624 Adamstown Road, Adamstown, MD 21710. RACE INFORMATION

All registered participants can pick up their race packets the morning of the race between 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.  Included in your race packet will be your race number, which must be worn throughout the race, a T-shirt, and other items donated by local businesses.

The 5K Race will begin at 8:00 a.m. in front of CMES, rain or shine.  The race will go through Green Hill Manor and Adamstown Commons.  Race maps will be provided in your race packet, however those of you wishing to view it in advance.... click here!

KIDS' 1 MILE FUN RUN

The Kids' 1 Mile Fun Run will take place at 9:00 a.m. in front of CMES.  The run will start at CMES and go into Green Hill Manor.  It will turn left on Morland Dr. N., right on Haddington Dr., right on Decatur, right on Adamstown Road and then left back into the school’s parking lot.

We welcome and encourage all students to participate.  Tshirts & medals will be given to all pre-registered students.

 AWARDS

The following categories will be awarded on the day of the race:  Top three finisher (male and female); First CMES PTA member (male and female); First CMES student finisher (male and female); First middle school finisher (male and female); First high school finisher (male and female); First walker (male and female).  Age-grouped categories will also be awarded:   <18yrs.;  19-29 yrs.; 30-39 yrs.; 40-49 yrs.; 50-59 yrs.; and 60+ yrs..

RACE DAY ACTIVITIES

We will have a silent auction with wonderful items up for grabs, great door prizes, and free refreshments for registered participants in both the 5K and Kids' Fun Run.

Babysitting services will be provided for children who have a parent/parents participating in the race or who are volunteering his/her services on race day.  Additional information about this service will be provided closer to the event.

Key 103 will be broadcasting LIVE!

Rita's Italian Ice will be selling their delicious Italian Ice, and donating 20% of the profits to CMES PTA.  YUM!
